TB swung by BBC Breakfast this morning to discuss the fact that despite being cleared by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner Nadine Dorries is still being subjected to a vitriolic and partisan hounding online, especially from the more scummy, stalkerish elements of the otherwise maturing left-wing blogsphere. Nadine claimed that she changed the names and locations of constituents she discussed in order to protect their privacy and her own. Funnily enough the BBC though this worthy of their airtime.
The quality is appalling, but someone managed to grab a recording of the discussion with lefty, but a nice one, Zoe Margolis:
Take note though Andrew Marr, not a basement dweller in sight. Though it's that sort of blogger keeping the attacks up. To those that say this isn't a left on right attack are wrong. It's precisely because of Nadine's views, that some might regard as controversial, that the left can whip themselves up into such a frenzy about her. But they are running out of attack lines, and funny how quiet they are about the accused fraudsters facing trial from their own side of the political divide.
Funny though that despite the countless attempts to bring her down, Nadine managed to increase her majority in May. Something that along with her clearing by John Lyons is driving the local Labour Party and freaks many miles away in places like Guildford mad. She remains a popular local MP and would frankly be better ignoring the online nutters...

Even if what Dorries claims about being stalked isn't fiction, by her own account, this isn't why she lied to her constituents*:
"I often posted comments on my blog relating to [name of town] in my constituency. Since I first rented in the constituency, I made a song and dance about being at the property. I have mentioned it on my blog a number of times. This was done to comfort my Association. The previous MP only visited the constituency occasionally—sometimes only as often as once every six weeks—and they were keen that I reversed that impression. His lack of time in the constituency contributed to his de-selection. -
Letter to the Commissioner from Ms Nadine Dorries MP, 25 January 2010
Unless you're telling us that she lied to the Commissioner about why she lied to her constituents.
(*You are also aware that the events you and she claim amount to stalking took place after the lies she told constituents.)
I don't see any defence here, just the suggestion that those who have pointed out the problems with her conduct should be ignored because of their politics.
By the way, there's a rumour that you sometimes write for Paul Staines' blog. Whether or not this is indeed the case, it would be nice if you could at least confirm whether you had anything to do with the blog entry attacking Ms Humphrey Cushion. Cheers.
So I still don't get it. One can justify fibbing on a blog about locational issues if it is updated in real time but since she writes posts a day or two after events have happened then why change things? Her only reason is for political expediency and so she is not a crook but is a liar who lies about loving her constituency.
I don't agree with many of Tim's rants about her, but her rants about Tim are equally silly - if she had the truth about Tim he'd have a restraining order and an electronic tag, if he had the goods on her he could have sued her for libel many times over *and* won, which means somewhere in there there's an element of truth in the rumours about Nadine and maybe about Tim too.
Nadine is a nightmare - someone that's a loose cannon within the conservatives, and someone that come back again and again like Claire Short if you know what I mean.
She's said many many things that aren't credible TB - Saying that she keeps winning elections is a little silly when you look at the area she represents, frankly if you stuck a blue rosette on any white person in that area they'd win by default.
The two problems TB has with yoof politics is the lack of accountability and a lack of humour - TB intends to kill, or at least wound these two birds with one stone. editor@torybear.com

Who the heck is Nadine?
Its upto her voters to decide in the end .
