I don't like the spin the TPA have put on the document that goes with this video - but then, I generally don't like the stuff that comes out of the TPA even when they do get their numbers right.
Anthropogenic climate change is real, the scientific evidence is there, and the way the TPA brings up the CRU hack in their document just shows that they care about much more than taxation. I don't believe individual action is enough to fight climate change, government has to be involved, and that usually means spending has to be involved also.
That said, this is really NOT how I would assign such spending. I think the problem with this government is there are too many departments trying to do the same thing. I've never particularly wanted a government that spends less than the current one, but I do want one that spends more competently than it.
Ross, we have never made any claim whatsoever about whether "anthropogenic climate change is real". The CRU revelations are explicitly relevant to this issue because one of the grants in the scheme we were studying was given to promote the CRU's findings!
That said, I'm glad you oppose this kind of spending nonetheless.
The two problems TB has with yoof politics is the lack of accountability and a lack of humour - TB intends to kill, or at least wound these two birds with one stone. editor@torybear.com

er, thanks DEFRA for what, exactly?
For spending my money for me, so I don't have to. And making such wise choices too!
