Trot on.

James Gray should publicly apologise for
this
, and then ride far far away.

He laid his wreaths in his capacity as the elected representative of his constituents. I can't see anything wrong with him being reimbursed for his costs. All this vicious rabble-rousing does is detract from what Gray bought the wreaths for in the first place, contrary to what the "News of the Screws" may want you to think.

If people are going to complain about their tax money going towards remembering our Glorious Dead, then there is something pathetically wrong with this country.

It is no a question of tax money being used to remember "our glorious dead", it is a question of a Member of Parliament apparently doing the decent thing but making sure he is not out of pocket for a few quid.

Did he tell his constituents he was claiming the money back for the wreaths?

I would expect someone other than my M.P. to pay for wreathes, just as I would expect someone other than the Mayor of Leeds where I am to pay for the wreathes they lay.

I cannot see anything wrong with Gray's "whining" and I rather doubt the "News of the Screws" asked a cross-section, let alone every single one, of Gray's constituents as to whether they were arware that he had paid for the wreathes he had laid and then requested reimbursement for.

60 Pounds!!! That's rather less than a decent bouquet for the missus, or lunch for two in London. There are some things that you don't claim on expenses if you're a politician. These idiots should have known that the expenses could have come out at any time - hostile civil servants, aggrieved staff, etc. It's not only that the expense is ill advised and unpatriotic, but that it's evidence of severe mental incapacity - what will he fuck up in the future if he has more responsibility than a constituency MP, or what will he fuck up as a backbencher in government...

Parties have to be run like organized crime at times - anyone who is (to quote Jason Statham) "a fucking liability" needs to leave feet first. Gray has demonstrated that he's a liability, so remove the whip and set it about his arse!
