Do as I say not as I do...
The National Union of Students don't half come out with some crackpot ideas, but this minimum pricing on drinks

This lot will go far in the Labour Party or the general lefty world with this "do as I say" attitude. Now TB isn't having a go at them for getting drunk and having a good time, hell alcohol would be the only way to get through a three day NUS conference.
It's just the hypocrisy he can't stand.
nonsense
really takes the biscuit. Wes "yes we can" Streeting, the re-elected Labour President said “Students’ unions work hard to inform their members of the dangers of excessive drinking. But more can be done. ‘All you can drink’ and ‘three for the price of one’ offers encourage students to drink to dangerous levels.” Won't those nannying bosses at the Labour Party be pleased with their golden child!Newbie blogger

has beaten the bear to it with taking the piss, but frankly, while students will no doubt reject these ideas, this whole thing is also some what hypocritical. These ridiculous measures against this so called "binge drinking" are clearly just a litmus test for what will no doubt turn into some botched and rushed government policy and makes the NUS look like a bunch of idiots. They have just had their annual conference in Blackpool and this year it was seemingly a bit of a Twitter fest. Check out minute by minute coverage of the whole three day circle jerk here
. Posts like these got TB thinking:So by day motions attempting to curb drinking on campus were passed, by night the pictures that TB has nicked from here
tell a very different story:This lot will go far in the Labour Party or the general lefty world with this "do as I say" attitude. Now TB isn't having a go at them for getting drunk and having a good time, hell alcohol would be the only way to get through a three day NUS conference.

Here here! It's not for my 'union' to decide what it thinks best and force it upon me. They're supposed to be there to help if needed.
you seem to like this 'circle jerk' thing, TB, you use the term a lot. maybe you like this act yourself
also is it not National Union OF Students. i think you have had a few too many yourself mr Bear
one more thing... TB stands for tuberculosis. thats very politically incorrect, and offensive to my people, the spastic homo midgets
I don't understand twitter.
surely there are better things to do in a club than give the world a minute-by-minute update of what you're not doing?
I'm proud to not be afffiliated to NUS!
I don't like hypocrisy in student politics. It's pretty EUSAless.
I hope to God that most students would slam this down at a general meeting or otherwise leave the NUS. I think there would be civil unrest if they introduced this at my place.
How many NUS conferences have you attended?
None becuase you have failed to ever be elected to anything.
You spend so much time giving the Lib Dems free publicity, it is not suprising that CF types are so disparaging about you. I actually stood up for you last time you were being slagged ogg but you need to get a grip mate
Thanks for your continued support... actually had to privalige to go to the wolverhampton banterfest and turned down the chance to go to blackpool this year.
but hey if people are getting grumpy you must be doing something right.

I thought the Bear's winding up of 'CF types' was part of his raison d'être.
This is grassroots politics in the raw. Fun innit?
Are these photos of students doing anything irresponsible whilst drinking? I think not! Are you a little jealous you weren't a delegate TB?
oooo i was included in that twitter bashing! And firmly against the idea!
I put in, as did atleast 5 others, to have that part taken out of the motion that totaled 4 pages. However because it was the last day no parts were heard to get through to the next zone of motions. Otherwise i am almost certain the part about engaging in a conversation about minimum pricing would have been removed.
Minimum pricing would be the death of union bars . . . . . .
quite why the NUS thinks delegates should be taking on the responsibility of 'knowing what's best' for our students rather than letting them make educated choices is a worrying trend. It is there to represent, not nanny
