Do you ever get the feeling that Bono thinks of himself as some kind of masked crusader? Lone Ranger? Captain America? or Battyman, perhaps?
I don't like Bono either but surely a wall is necessary to keep out those who haven't paid for tickets. Thus protecting their profits. The symbolism of a wall protecting capitalism instead of a repressive socialist state is a good one.
Berliners don't like walls.
To put one up at the Brandenburg gate is really obnoxious.
What are they going to do, make the people that live there buy tickets or get locked out?
