Turning a blind eye?

Further to Tory Bear's story that Adrian McMenamin, the CBI's head of campaigns was writing for LabourList, TB got in touch with the CBI press office...
After an hour or two they got back to TB with... "No comment!"

Err, so did Peter Luff - will you be calling on the Tories to remove The Whip from him after he graced the pages of Labour List?

Adrian's piece was harmless and charming.

No of course not. The point is that the CBI is meant to be a none partisan organisation and Adrian McMenamin has long plastered his political affiliations across the internet - bringing into question how he can remain neutral as the CBI Head of Campaigns.

The CBI's site states:
"We are the premier lobbying organisation for UK business on national and international issues. We work with the UK government, international legislators and policy-makers to help UK businesses compete effectively."

How on earth do you expect them to achieve this, and support our businesses, if they do not employ people who have worked in politics - from any side of the political divide.

Relax - there are more important things to worry about.

Yes but employees are discouraged from overt political activity - like writing for a Labour supporting website.

McMenamin was nearly fired for his involvement with tory bashing in the past and was warned to pack it in. TB is highlighting that he has ignored these warnings and is continuing to wage war on the tories online.

He just can't help himself it seems.
