As a deeply concerned member of the Red Lion's loyal bar-propper-uppers brigade I, of course, enquired into the details of the planned refurbishment. I have managed to ascertain the following details from a member of the bar staff; the soft furnishings are to be deep cleaned (probably to get the ZaNuLiebor stench and slime out of them prior to, hopefully, a new breed of political animal taking up residence soon after May 6), the bar is to be re-varnished and some of the paintwork is to be re-done. A hot food bar will be added to the main bar area, apparently where the current kitchen area is.
I have had a guarantee that hot milk (brandy optional) will still be available to those seeking the nursery comforts of the House during recess.
All in all I think the refurbishment may be less of a tragedy than we at first imagined. Well I hope it is at least!

I wish I could be there. That pub seems like a pub should be, full of people enjoying themselves and putting the world to rights...will I be able to smoke when the pub is refurbished? No, thought not. Still, wish I could be there.
