But I can only tell you as much as I know, and it was sold to me as being for towns with a university, as it gave an oppertunity to both utilise CF in target seats and raise the profile of the branch. I've already explained what I think of the scheme on a previous thread!
ADxAdele Douglasnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787283052819380346.post-84446847161111593712008-07-10T14:17:00.000+01:002008-07-10T14:17:00.000+01:00"If we allowed the Chairman and NME to get their w..."If we allowed the Chairman and NME to get their way we would no longer have CF membership fees and hundreds of small branches in the north would go bankrupt."

One is given to wondering when those responsible for this suggestion will admit that it was a terrible idea with no chance of being implemented.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787283052819380346.post-76043631111761527532008-07-10T14:11:00.000+01:002008-07-10T14:11:00.000+01:00AD last time I checked;

Brentford & Isl...AD last time I checked;

Brentford & Isleworth
Ealing Central and Acton
Berwick Upon Tweed
Dagenham & Rainham
Hammersmith

didn't have a university in them.

Good friends of Lunn but no university...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787283052819380346.post-91268231011557087402008-07-10T14:06:00.000+01:002008-07-10T14:06:00.000+01:00Hi John,

No, apparently its only for towns ...Hi John,

No, apparently its only for towns that actually have a university in them - hence seats such as EP&N and Dudley South and your Welsh ones missing out - they're in close proximity but thats not enough *rolls eyes*

ADxAdele Douglasnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787283052819380346.post-75001860200672827432008-07-10T13:43:00.000+01:002008-07-10T13:43:00.000+01:00Cannot see many seats from Wales...Are Cardiff Nor...Cannot see many seats from Wales...Are Cardiff North and the Vale of Glamorgan (for example) not close enough to universities for consideration?John Moorcrafthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08371423149892555902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787283052819380346.post-64931735832697783482008-07-10T10:17:00.000+01:002008-07-10T10:17:00.000+01:00I think Ellesmere Port & Neston should be a CF...I think Ellesmere Port & Neston should be a CF target. But I suppose I would think that!

So should Pendle TBH, but as the seats were chosen due to proximity of Universities, finding seats in cities in the N West that are winnable was a bit of a tall order I guess. I would imagine the target seat designation of seats matters far more than whether the candidate has a previous CF record.

Exeter is not a target seat. Pendle and Dudley South are in the what is now ranked as 'certainty' range. The target seats given to CF are those mid range targets that extra campaigning force on the ground could make all the difference between a gain and a near miss.

This is a really stupid complaint TB. NME members are much more likely to be prone to select the seats to focus on in which they have connections with, live in, have friends as candidates.

Professional party staff are more aware of the association campaigns strengths, which lack active members, and which really need outside help.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787283052819380346.post-81188556798621848302008-07-09T19:12:00.000+01:002008-07-09T19:12:00.000+01:00Don't forget Mark Clarke in Tooting...

he ...Don't forget Mark Clarke in Tooting...

he doesn't take rejection wellAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
