This AV crap would empower the anti-democratic activities of the satirically named Liberal "Democrats" even more than FPTP.

The Lib-Lab tactical voting would allow them to vote against the Conservatives with the candidate most likely to defeat them, and still support their own party with a preferential position.

I trust Clegg isn't naive enough to repeat the humiliating political miscalculations of Pantsdown by letting promises of a return to electoral relevance make him ally himself with the crapulent cyclops.

Labour want to sound like they want to change the voting system for various reasons:

1: They might get a few LD/Labour undecideds back into their column in the polls (especially in the ones with stupidly small samples). This will give an illusion of anti-tory momentum, which if successful Labour could build on.

2: They hope it will make them sound sorta reasonable and sorta non-partisan. This is the exact opposite of the truth and its all entirely partisan.

3: Labour hopes it will mess up the LDs in LD/Labour marginals. It allows Labour to say on the doorstep, 'Yeah we do that reform stuff too, stick with us.'

4: It is a smoke and mirrors tactic to draw attention away from the ridiculous way the boundaries are drawn for this election.
